The Berhampur University is a Public University located in the city of Brahmapur, Orissa, India. The University is one of the oldest Universities in the state of Orissa. The University was established in the month of January 1967 by the Orissa legislative assembly. The University was inaugurated by the Ayodhya Nath Khosla. The first vice-chancellor of the University was Justice Lingaraj Panigrahi.
The University has many affiliated colleges, both general and professional, catering to the demand for higher education. It aims to provide job oriented technical courses in various fields. The University has five faculties: Arts, Science and Technology, Commerce and Management, Engineering and Education. It has many postgraduate and undergraduate departments of studies and research.
