The Barkatullah University (BU) is a public state University. The University is very old University in this region. The University is located in the city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. The University was established in the year 1970 by the state government for providing higher education in human resources, and skills and technology. The original name of the Barkatullah University was Bhopal University. The University was renamed after the great freedom fighter, Prof. Barkatullah, who was born in the area. The University is affiliated the colleges lying in the 7 other districts of the Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Betul, Hoshangabad, Harda and Rajgarh divisions of Madhya Pradesh. The main campus of the University is located in the capital city.

The Barkatullah University offers various under graduation and post graduation courses such as BA, B. ED., MA, M. Phil., B. Sc., BBM, MMM, B. Com., MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA.
